Terms of Service

The terms for using the Picture Me app and the operator site.

Last updated: 2026-10-30

These terms set the conditions for using the Picture Me desktop app and this website, provided by [company name pending] (“the Company”). By signing up or activating the app on a machine, you agree to these terms.

1. Purpose

These terms set out the rights, duties and responsibilities between the Company and the operators who use Picture Me.

2. Definitions

  • Service: the Picture Me desktop app (the kiosk software), this website, and the Picture Me server that generates photos and delivers them by QR.
  • Operator: a person or business that signs up on this site and runs a Picture Me booth in a shop or at an event.
  • Customer: a person who has their photo taken at an operator's booth. Customers do not use this site.
  • License key: the key starting with “PM-” issued to an operator's account, used to activate the app on a machine.
  • Machine: a PC on which the app has been activated with a license key.
  • Invite code: a code the Company hands out to allow sign-up during the beta.

3. Accounts and invite codes

  • During the beta you need an invite code to sign up. You sign up with a name, an email address and a password.
  • Signing up with an invite code creates a license on your account. Its term and number of machines follow the conditions set on the invite code. The Company may change them later, and will tell you in advance before reducing them.
  • You must enter accurate information when you sign up. You look after your account and password, and must tell the Company right away if you suspect someone else is using your account.
  • Invite codes, accounts and licenses cannot be transferred or sold to anyone else.

4. Licenses and machines

  • Anyone can download and install the app, but it only runs on a machine activated with a license key.
  • Each license has a term and a number of machines it can activate. Deactivating one machine frees its seat for another.
  • An activated machine checks in with this site at regular intervals (a heartbeat). Each check-in sends the device identifier, the app version and the time.
  • The app locks when the term ends, when the license is suspended, or when the machine is deactivated. It may also lock if it cannot reach this site for a certain length of time. Locking the app does not delete photos already taken.
  • The Company may suspend a license or a machine if the operator breaks these terms, if there is reason to believe the license key has leaked or is being misused, or when needed to keep the service secure. The Company will tell you why by email. In an urgent case it may tell you after suspending.
  • The rights in the software belong to the Company; the operator receives the right to use it under these terms. You must not modify or reverse-engineer the app or bypass the license check.

5. Terms of the software

  • Picture Me is currently a beta. Features, styles and screens may change, and there may be bugs.
  • The macOS app is a build not yet notarized by Apple. If macOS says it can't verify the app the first time you open it, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway to run it. Windows may also show a security warning on first launch.
  • Download the app only from the download links on this site. The Company cannot vouch for installers obtained anywhere else.
  • Photos are generated on the Picture Me server, so an internet connection is required. During a short outage, prints and QR uploads wait in a queue and are sent when the connection returns.
  • Generated photos are AI-made images and may not match what the customer expects.
  • The operator provides, and pays for, the PC, camera, printer, media and internet connection.
  • There is no charge for use during the beta. If paid plans are introduced later, the prices and conditions will be announced on this site and by email at least 30 days before they apply, and they will apply only if the operator agrees.

6. Operator obligations

The operator must:

  • Before photographing a customer at the booth, tell the customer that the photo is sent to the Picture Me server and turned into an AI image, and how long the photo is kept, and obtain the customer's consent. The app's consent screen can be used for this; customers who do not consent are not photographed. For a child under 14, consent from a legal guardian is required.
  • Not use a customer's photo for promotion or any other purpose without the customer's consent.
  • Not use the service to break the law or infringe anyone's rights (portrait rights, copyright and so on), to photograph anyone without their knowledge, or to make images meant to deceive or harm others.
  • Keep the license key and the account safe, and tell the Company right away if a leak is suspected.
  • Not overload the service or its servers, or bypass its security measures.

7. Changes to and suspension of the service

  • The Company may change features, style packs and screens to improve the service. Changes that significantly affect how you run the booth will be announced in advance.
  • The service may stop for a while because of maintenance, outages, or problems at outside providers (cloud infrastructure, the image-generation provider). Planned maintenance will be announced in advance where possible.
  • If the beta ends or the service is discontinued, this will be announced on this site and by email at least 30 days in advance.
  • Changes to these terms will be announced on this site and by email at least 7 days before they apply, or at least 30 days before for changes unfavorable to operators. If you do not agree to the changed terms, you can close your account before they apply.
  • The operator can close the account at any time by asking through “Contact” on this site.

8. Limitation of liability

  • The Company provides the service in good faith but does not guarantee that the beta will run without interruption or errors.
  • The Company is not liable for losses caused by the operator's equipment or internet connection, by the operator failing to obtain a customer's consent or breaking these terms, or by causes beyond the Company's control such as natural disasters.
  • To the extent permitted by law, the Company is not liable for indirect losses such as lost business. This does not apply to losses caused by the Company's intent or gross negligence.

9. Governing law and jurisdiction

  • These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
  • If a dispute arises in connection with the service, both sides will first try to resolve it by discussion; if that fails, [court pending] has jurisdiction at first instance.
